OLD Subject Specialism - Research - Ship Concept art

Outside ship design - Concept Art
Figure 18

I want to feature a ship in my animation so I need to have a look at different designs and see what i
can create using them. Figure 18, shows some different views of the outside of a spaceship of some
sort. The shape of the ship is pretty simple but it features additional detail on the bottom and at the
back of it. I could see myself having a similar design to this ship but I would maybe add some guns the
the top and bottom of it, for the last scene in my animation when they get attacked. The fact that we
can see a black and white version at the bottom is good as i could use that to try out my own colour
schemes if i wanted to.

The people at the bottom of each picture is a size comparison i think, if so then that's helpful if you
were going to use this in a game so you know roughly how big your model should be. It's not
something that I need to use for my ship model, i could use it for the inside assets like the vehicle or
the barricade during my animation. I think that one of the most important parts of designing a ship is
making sure that it has unknown detail on it. What I mean by this is having parts of the ship that look
like they have a purpose but it's not clear at all and is instead there to make the ship look more
detailed and interesting.  It would be nice to see some other angles of the ships design, this is
something that I must remember when creating my concept art. Having the front, back and side views
of the ship will make creating the model sheets much easier for me.

The colour scheme the artist has chosen is very sci-fi with the use of greys and a secondary colour of
yellow/orange really helps the picture stand out.
